I’ve always wanted to be an artist...

My parents encouraged my creativity even though it meant I drew on the walls of my bedroom from floor to ceiling, and always had some project spread out over the dining room table. I shot my first roll of film when I was eight years old with a Kodak Brownie camera. The laundry room eventually served as a make-shift darkroom. This caused some problems when I felt the need to express my artistic vision outweighed my sisters' need for clean clothes.

After graduating from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh I worked as a graphic artist. Sunny weather lured me to San Diego where I began working as a photo stylist. In 1989 I moved to Europe and opened a photo studio outside Basel, Switzerland where I worked for German, Swiss, and French clients, including Levi's, McDonald's and Mattel. Returning to California in 1995, I worked with the modeling agencies Elite and Ford. My work has been in the magazines Jane, Latina, and the German edition of Marie Claire, and has received awards from Kodak and Minolta, among others.

I photographed my first wedding after being recommended to the bride by a friend. The maid of honor hired me to photograph her wedding and I was hooked. In 1999, my second year specializing in weddings, I was named one of the top 10 new wedding and portrait photographers in the United States by the Professional Photographers of America, and the next year I placed second in the nation in their New Faces competition. I have since photographed wedding celebrations throughout the United States and Europe.
